Deborah Govenor Choir Workshop
October 17-18, 2008

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Coos Bay, Oregon, is very excited to host nationally recognized clinician, sacred composer and arranger Deborah Govenor. Sacred choral enthusiasts would normally have to go to Portland or Seattle to attend a clinic like this and pay twice as much. This clinic is for choir directors, music leaders, worship leaders, pastors and choral singers. The cost is $35.00 per person ($45.00 after September 15), which will include a music packet. The workshop sessions will take place at the church.

DEBORAH GOVENOR

Deborah Govenor is an Ohio native and a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she received a Bachelor of Music Education degree as a piano major, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, where she received a Master of Theological Studies degree, and is a certified Associate in Ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. She has served as organist in two Columbus, Ohio area Lutheran churches, as well as directing adult, junior, high school and bell choirs. She also taught piano for several years, during which time she began her composing career and now has over 50 anthems in print. Debby is currently employed by Beckenhorst Press, Inc. a sacred music publishing company in Columbus, Ohio, as organ editor.

Debby recently moved from Columbus, Ohio, to Bar Harbor, Maine, with her husband, Paul Bartels, a retired German and English teacher and singer, along with their family of four dogs and two cats. Her other musical interests include the Celtic harp, hammered and mountain dulcimers, bowed psaltery and the shuttle pipes. Three of her Celtic harp and recorder duet books have recently been published by Afghan Press. She and her husband enjoy traveling and are avid football fans.

Financial Peace University is a life-changing program that teaches you how to make the right decisions with your money. You'll be empowered with the practical skills and confidence needed to achieve your financial goals and experience true financial peace.  In FPU, you will meet with your class each week to watch a video lesson and participate in discussion groups that will change how you think about money. Dave explains how money really works in a simple, easy-to-understand style. You'll actually have fun as you learn!  The 13-week course is $93.00 per family and includes the Financial Peace University Workbook, audio CD library, Dave Ramsey’s best-selling book, the FPU envelope system, tip cards, debit card holders and 2 bonus FPU cd-roms.  

Classes will begin Thursday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m. with signup deadline 2 weeks prior to that.
